Going to the States; Grieving

At 3 am this morning my dear Abuelito (Grandpa) passed away suddenly. He fell off a ladder and landed on his face. He had a brain bleed and there was nothing they could do for him when he got to the hospital.
Ivan Durand grew up in Puerto Rico. He accepted the Lord in his midlife and lead his family in the way of the Lord since then. He was a wonderful Abuelito. So giving, kind and caring. He is joining his wife in heaven in the arms of Jesus. A better place than here.
I have to leave right away. We are not sure the timeline, and even if John is going to be able to come. Please be in prayer about all this. There is so much do and I am not thinking straight right now.
Please pray for my mom, Sally Carns. She is grieving greatly as this was her last surviving parent. We do have peace knowing that he is suffering no longer (he was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago but in remission, and also still grieving his wife’ death a few years ago). Pray that our finances will come together. There is so much to take care of before leaving the country. Sorry if this post is random.

Thank you for the prayers. Love you all.

I know that He is with you and going before. Random? Perhaps. I am thinking Real. How did Missionaries endure on the field before e-mails and this sort of communication? Thanks for keeping us informed! ED

I am so sorry to hear of your grandfather’s death. I certainly will be in prayer for you and your family and the many decisions that will have to be made.

  7. Mel, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sending hugs over the miles, my arms are extended to you. I know how hard it is to loose a loved one when you are so far away. That’s one of the hard parts of being a missionary, being abroad when you wish you were right there by your family and friends when they are in need and you too!
Prayers are with Sally, I lost my dad just before I went on the field and still to this day it’s so hard. Please give your family our condolences. It’s a relief to know that he is with our Heavenly Father now and his wife. I know you’ll miss them but you have the memories to last till you meet again!

    Love ya

Never easy but even harder when it’s so unexpected. Praising God for airfare provisions and will be praying for a smooth trip (customs, the kids etc.) Praying for your mom and all the family.
