Thank you for praying! I have some goods news. The fevers have gone down. The are no longer 102+. They now get no higher than 101. An improvement. I am finished with my antibiotic! I’m so happy. IV antibiotic is no fun!
Here’s the deal: I got back from the urologist yesterday. The medicine failed to get rid of the infection, but it did get rid of some. I am on another antibiotic in hopes the infection will go away. However, he has advised us to come back to the states and have surgery to finally get rid of the stone that is causing the problem. It will not pass and it is starting to become painful, and as I said before, the fevers continue.
We have no idea when this will happen because we have to get Ellis’s paperwork in order, unless they tell us we can come without it. It is likely to be after Christmas but before the New Year or right after the New Year, as soon as we can go, we are going. Of course, if something drastic happens and the stone moves or dissolves then we will not be coming home, but it looks like we will.
The big question is where will we go? Well, I used to see a GP in Maryland that was excellent. I remembered him so we decided to look him up to see if he is still practicing. Not only is he still practicing, but he is a kidney specialist. We will be calling the office soon to see if he will be willing to take on my case. But also, let’s be honest, it’s been a hard year, and another reason we will be going to MD is because I need my mommy. 🙂
We just got back from the urologist. The medicine failed to get rid of the infection, but it did get rid of some. Melissa is on another antibiotic in hopes the infection will go away. However, he has advised us to come back to the states and have surgery to finally get rid of the stone that is causing the problem. It will not pass and it is starting to become painful. She continues to have fevers from 100-101.

If you live in MD: We do not have any cold weather clothing for the babies. Evangeline is 24 months and size 5.5-6 in toddler shoes. Ellis is in 3 month clothing. We do NOT need new clothing. Just used clothing that will get us through a month to a month and a half of cold weather.
How You Can Pray:
Pray that we can get Ellis’s paperwork all worked out and be able to leave soon.
The provision of a car in MD.
Pray for healing. As much as we would love to be with our families this January, we would like even more for Mel to be healed. Going home is probably the answer, but we just want God’s will to be done.
hang in there – He is with you
Mel and John, we are praying every day–throughout the day–that you will find resolution to these kidney and infection issues!! You must feel like you’re in the midst of a whirlwind and you’re not quite sure where it is going to set you down! Praying that all of you, including the girls, will be at peace in the midst of this process.
May the Lord be with you four and guide and direct your feet and provide for you in every possible way…we will keep lifting you up!
Mel & John, do you have contact info yet as to where you’ll be in MD? Levi & I will be in Washington DC for Christmas until the 30th at least. I have family there, but not sure if any have baby clothing anymore, as all girls are high school and beyond, but I can ask, if you still need.
I can also ask around RE transportation, but don’t hold your breath. what hospital does your doc work out of?
