A Rescue

Today I was minding my own business, happily driving down the road. I was headed to the market. I parked and low and behold smoke was coming out of the hood of our jeep! So I got out of the car and realized that anti-freeze was dripping all over the ground. “Great” thought I. “Now what?” I did the only thing I knew to do, I called the Shucks (John does not have a cell phone or a car). I told them that “green stuff” was dripping from my car. At that point I thought it was anti-freeze but I did not know for sure and I did not want to misdiagnose. So both Walt and Kim came to rescue me. They found me sitting on the front bumper munching on plantain chips and drinking Power Aide from a McDonalds cup. I think they were laughing at me. But, hey, that’s ok, I was laughing at me. Walt said one of the coolant hoses was leaking. So I climbed into their car and we headed home.

At that time I started thinking, that this was not the first time a near-disaster happened after coming home from Belize. I quickly recognized this as something that might be used to try to discourage us, so I stayed positive. I’m not gonna let one little hose leak get me down. In the end everything worked out. The Shucks let us borrow their car (shout out to the Shucks, you guys are awesome), John fixed the hose, and we drove off into the sunset…. ok, i’m getting a little carried away, it was only 2:00 at that point. Praise the Lord that it was only a hose and not the radiator, PTL for rescuers like the Shucks, PTL for His constant care and provision in our lives, PTL for just being who He is…. AWESOME.

We weren’t laughing at you..we were laughing at the whole “damsel in distress” thing 🙂 Anyway, I’m glad we could help.

Great story and you gotta love Kim and Walt!

The Heep was just trying to wish you a happy St. Patty’s day in its own cantankerous way – spraying you with the green stuff 🙂

You are right…the enemy is trying to discourage and upset you any way he can….the more you praise God the more you defeat him….glad you recognized the attack and God was faithful to rescue you in every way.

Good Job, Melissa, in recognizing the source of discouragement and kicking him in the face! I have to agree with Donna’s comment, the more you praise God the more you defeat Satan, who’s only purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Thank you, Walt & Kim, for all your kindness to our children. And thank you heavenly Father for, once again, showing your faithfulness and love.

jeeps are cold blooded creaters so of course they bleed green blood.
you may want to go to advance auto, or a store like it and get the manual on your jeep.
better to read it on nights when the tv has nothing good.
I found the pump for the balls yesterday, and took over to joseph, right away they started puming up the balls.
took a load from habitate to Mercy today.

  8. Hey Praise the Lord, perhaps, you are officially an Irishmen (woman) LOL! You know us Irish we have to get to you some how.

You are right, Satan doesn’t like defeat, and he’ll continue to attack, but as long as you realize that God needs and deserves the Praise, Satan will continue to be defeated on all fronts!!

We love you and are standing in the gap for you as well. Love Ma and Pa
