Showers of Blessings… Literally

Today was one of those days for me. A day when my heart is sad. Please pray for John and I and for wisdom. We are fine, nothing is wrong with us personally, we just need God’ guidance on a few issues. My spirit was burdened today and worried. I prayed a lot.

First, I want the people that are praying for me specifically about cooler weather to know that there has been some unseasonably cool weather here in Belize. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such a simple request and praying about it. I know you have, because the prayers have been answered. There is something to be said for praying fervently ans specifically, no matter the request.

Now, I would like to tell you about our showers of blessings. A couple of weeks ago the Ankers family came on a short term trip. Not many people come to Belize to minister directly to missionaries. They did. They did the “every day” things such as sew, clean, take care of the baby, offer me advice, teach me and Una how to teach Sunday School, went through books, trained us on how to teach others how to read… things that seem small, yet their acts were so HUGE. One thing that the husband Dale worked on was a very simple solar water heater.

Our house is the “test” house for this project. Today was the first day we tried it. After a long day of thinking, praying, and sadness, a hot shower sounded nice. Guess what? The water was hot! I mean REALLY nice and warm. A kind of warm that melts a sad day away. This is VERY significant for the base because we have never had hot or even warm water out here. And now we do! That shower was such a blessing for John and I. WARM water, who would have known that I would get excited over such a thing?

When we pray tonight, we are going to say a special prayer of thanksgiving and blessings for the Ankers family. For they truly know the meaning of service.

So thankful that the weather has been cooler, especially for you Mel. Isn’t God good to send this special family to minister to your family. Praise the Lord for the warm water!!! Excited for you!!! God cares about the little things too.

You know now the Ankers are multi-talented and apt to teach.
Dale drives a bus too—I rode with him several years ago.
Mom Bjorgen is looking forward to her first trip to Belize.
Today, we could use some of your excess heat here in IN.
We pray things will settle down and for a good experience at delivery time.

I’m doubly surprised. 1) It works with the compromises in design that we had to make and 2) It stayed on the roof during the storm. It’s good to hear that it is working and that it is making life a little easier for you.

Bless you for your honesty as you share your struggles with us. That’s the best way for us to know how to pray. Thanking God for hot and cold in your life—-warm water and cool breezes!

Praying for you as you prepare for the CS team to arrive. I hope they are a great blessing to you and to the village. God grant John and Mel all the wisdom they require on every issue.
