A couple of week ago we had the first of four teams from Woodridge Church in Minnesota come and serve alongside us. They were a group of young adults and several young moms. They came to build a house in the village and help with ladies bible study. They also told bible stories to the children. By the time they left the exterior of the house was built, they did a great job working with Robert and Nadine (the recipients of the house). Robert has worked on many houses in the village, their turn finally came up and they are as happy as can be.
John and I teach some sessions every evening on “missions mobilization” when teams are here. Much of what we talk about focuses on being obedient to the Lord and doing what He says when He says. One night after I spoke on Jonah, a team member shared with the group that she had been pushing off baptism for quite some time now knowing that the Lord was asking her to do it. She said she wanted to get baptized right then and there. So at 10 pm at night all of us headed for the sea. As I was walking I shared with another member on the team how excited I was because baptisms are my “all time favorite” part of church. She said to me, “You know, I’ve been a Christian most of my life and I have never been baptized.” Before I could say anything we were at the ocean and ready to baptize the team member who was being obedient to the Lord. After her baptism, the pastor of the church asked if anyone else wanted to get baptized. Three others came forward INCLUDING the woman who had spoken to me on our way to the beach. It was a GLORIOUS night. The joy was infectious and the Holy Spirit was among us as the waves splashed around us.
On the last day of the trip a couple of the moms on the team whom I had gotten close with, offered to organize the girls room. I am not an organizer so I took them up on their offer, they did a great job organizing and decorating. They really ministered to me in a unique way.
All that in conjunction with a wedding shower for Una and Amanda, repairs to the lodge roof, repairs to our jeep, basketball ministry, shared testimonies, a hilarious variety show made for a GREAT team. We are happy to host the other three teams that will be coming starting next week.
Right now we are hosting a team from CA. They have beautiful voices and eager hearts to serve. They just came yesterday. Starting tomorrow they will be painting in the village and doing VBS. Please be in prayer for their ministry here.
