Down in Mexico

We are in Mexico! That’s right. Yesterday we made the drive to Tijuana. Vacation you ask? I think not. We are visiting a Converge World Wide ( our mission board) mission ministry called Mexico Caravan Ministries. Here is the website if you want to check it out: http://www.mexicocaravanministries.com/.

Our field representative thought it would be a good idea to check this ministry out and get some ideas about missions mobilization for our ministry in Belize. John and I are passionate about encouraging the teams that come through The Belize Mission and Retreat to think about devoting their lives to full time ministry or missions. The missionaries here have welcomed us with open arms, brought us into their homes, and bought us some yummy Mexican Coke. There is NOTHING like it (don’t worry mom, I’m not drinking any, ok, well I had a sip).

The really cool thing is that Evangeline has now been to two countries before the age of one! What a blessed girl, and she does not even know it. She is doing awesome as usual and adapting really well. She was not sure about the little chihuahua named “Frijolita” though, but she’s warming up to her. She does however, enjoy their tiny pet turtles. I have to keep her from eating them while showing them to her. LOL.

Please continue to pray for our support. A goal of ours is to be at 80% by the middle of September. If you could pray specifically for that, we would really appreciate it. Thanks. Love you all!

I’m really, really glad you made it across safely. We’ll look forward to your ideas and thoughts of what you’ve seen. We are always open to new ideas of helping the STM to turn their lives to the Lord and go on the mission field. We are praying that you will be at 80% by the end of Aug. Then down here before Christmas! You are in our prayers and we talk you up to all the teams that are coming down. Love, hugs and kisses to all of you.

Please remember to tell Eddie and Maggie Passmore, we love them and would love for them to come for a visit sometime down our way.

It seems at least as safe as Belize here. According to Eddie, the reports of violence have been greatly sensationalized and exaggerated by the American media. It’s pretty much no worse that what’s happening in any major inner city in the US or around the world. In fact, there were far more drug related kidnappings in Phoenix last year (2nd most in the world) than in Tijuana. And yet I’m certainly not scared to drive around Phoenix, let alone Tijuana. Well, actually, I am scared of the drivers here, but that’s something else entirely. I just wanted to point this out, because their ministry has been highly affected by unwarranted fear over violence and swine flu over the last year, and it’s been very disappointing when dozens of teams are canceling despite their assurance that it’s safe.
