Anxiety

“Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. When I said, “my foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Psalm 94:17-19

These are beautifully redeeming verses. Many of you know, I struggle with anxiety at times. For me, anxiety is a pet sin I once had that I was redeemed from by God’ grace. Sometimes though, it rears it’s ugly head and gets the best of me. This support raising process is wearing me down. We are so close, and yet, I find myself as anxious as ever about our funding. I’m so human. God has proven to us time and time again that He will provide and I feel I’ve only proven how faithless I can be. Yet, in His grace and mercy God still blesses us. How awesome is that?

Today I started looking up verses on anxiety and came across this one. It calmed me right away to know that even if my foot is slipping the Lords love is supporting. How true this is. Sometimes I can feel the Lord holding me up and many times we can feel the prayers of those of you who are interceding for us. My heart cries out with gratitude for you all.

Please continue to pray for us. The enemy does not want to see us succeed but we are determined to glorify God through this whole process no matter how difficult. Please pray the the end of this support raising process will come to a close soon so that we can begin to open the new door in Belize. Please, if you have a verse of encouragement that deals with anxiety or worry, it would be a big blessing if you could post it in the comments section for me to study later tonight.

I leave you now with a group of verses that have spoken to me on more than one occasion and that I would like to commit to memory:

Do Not Worry

22Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27″Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32″Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  1. Praying for you, Mel. I struggle with worry too, so sort of my “life verse” has become Proverbs 3:5-6.

  2. Ma

Mel you’ve already quoted the verse I would share, Matthew 5:23-34, this was Basil and my prayer for our wedding and our lives together. Now you can join in on that one. Also there is: Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done!”

And a very simple one; 1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God,for He cares about you!”

Proverbs 25:12 “Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.”

I hope these help. I’ll be praying for you. Remember I’ve been there, done this and I have survived. Look to Him, He’s always there. Never has He abandoned me, only I have abandoned Him, wallowing in my worries and not focusing on Him and trusting Him. Love ya, Ma

I don’t have a verse; but I do appreciate your vulnerability and humanity!

Praying you will be encouraged by His Word. The end of waiting and your new beginnings will happen in *His* time, which is perfect. Do not worry. God hasn’t brought you this far for nothing. We love you!
