The ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder, shortening.... and coconut milk. I missed the picture of the milk but here is the coconut that the milk came from. Coconut milk is made by mixing coconut shavings with water and straining the shavings. The water comes out "milky". This is what the dough looks like when it is all mixed together.
Then you squeeze little balls out of the dough. Then you need it and make it into a roll. Then flatten it with your hand.
Then flatten it with a fork. Put them in the pan and then prepare the fire hearth. Here is the fire and coals.
Put some of the fire and coals on a piece of zinc. Yes, she does it with bare hands. Here is how it should look. Place the pan of Johnny Cakes on the hearth with the rest of the coals burning underneath.
Then pick up the zinc with the fire and coal on it ( again she did this with bare hands) and place it on top of the pan. This creates and oven. Arranging the wood. After about ten minutes take the zinc with fire on it off the hearth to retrieve baked cakes.
