A Sad Reason to go to Florida

On Friday evening I (Mel) received a call from my sister telling me that my abuelita (grandma) was in the hospital because of an brain aneurysm. The next evening she passed away. This was all very unexpected. The past couple of days have been filled with preparations for me and Evangeline to attend the funeral in Orlando, Florida.

My grandma was a Christian, and for that I rejoice that I will see her again someday. Even so, the suddenness of her death has hit our family very hard. Please be in prayer for us. The viewing is on Wednesday and the funeral on Thursday.

Evangeline and I leave for Florida tomorrow, and will be returning on Monday. Please be in prayer for me as I will be traveling alone with the baby for the first time (and flying with her for the first time). God will take care of us, I know.

Mel, Sweetie you are in my prayers I wish I could be there to give you a HUGE HUG! Your whole family will be in my prayers.

I have some good news, Kathy and Tom Long have told Basil that they really like the two of you and feel confident in your commitment to the Belize Mission & Retreat and they will be supporting you. I don’t know how much but they are committed to help you in support.

Be safe, I know God will watch over you and take care of you and Evangeline as you travel. I’m sure Evangeline will bring a smile and comfort to the rest of the family. They will all be blessed to see this beautiful miracle that God has given the family! Love, hugs and kisses Ma

I am so saddened by the news of your sweet Abuelita’s passing, Melissa. My heart goes out to you and your mom’s family. I will always remember her with a smile on her face and the warmth that she exuded. She is joyfully with Jesus now and I am happy for her. I pray that God will comfort you now as you mourn your earthly loss. Safe travels to you and Evangeline.
    Love, Val

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandma. When Jeffrey was 6 weeks old, I took him on a plane ride and this worked wondrously well for me. If you have either a pacifier or a bottle handy when you take off and land, have her suck on it at those times and it will help to keep her ears from hurting.

    Dear Lord,
Please be with Mel and her family right now. I ask that you would comfort them in this loss and give them a glimpse of how happy their grandma is now that she is home. Provide save travels for Mel and Evangeline. Love on them right now during this hard time.
    In Jesus’ Name,
    Amen
