Day 2

So Mel and I have volunteered our blog for the team to communicate with their home church this week. Today was Kasey’s turn. Here’s what he wrote:

hey guys. this is kasey and day 2 has went pretty smoothly. we got to sleep in a little and that was really really nice 🙂 after we finally dragged ourselves outta bed, we got to take cold showers that felt unbelievably good. we had delicious pancakes for breakfast and had a devotion. we then headed to the village and prayed walk almost the whole thing (which is about a mile and a quarter. we met moses and brandon. brandon is a really cool guy who makes cool necklaces and bracelets and other nik-naks. he is really nice and we talked a good bit. we then had some lunch. a lady in the village made us some hot pocket type things which were some of the greatest things i have ever had:) after that aunt judy got corn rows put in her hair and mary elizabeth got her hair put in braids. im not even joking. then we headed to the village and worked the vbs. we then went back by brandons and i got a few necklaces he made for me and now we are back at the mission base. the scenery is BEAUTIFUL!!! if they had AC i think everyone could stay. we havent ran into any wild creatures yet so thats good. everyone wanted me to tell their parents that they loved them. we are safe and pray that God keeps us safe. pray also that the people of belize see God in us. pray also that we grow in God and that God’s priorities become our priorities. please pray that God will comfort us and keep homesickness far from us because i think im already there. well im about to go swimming so ill keep in touch. i love you all and miss you all

Hey everyone. It’s Ken. I am in Seoul, South Korea. We landed at 5:40am Thursday morning. We have a nine hour layover here. Our flight to Jakarta leaves at 3:45pm and we should arrive at 8:45pm. Right now the time is 9:28am Thursday (8:28pm Wednesday for you) The trip has been tiring but everyone is doing great. We still have another 7 hours of flying but right now we are getting showers and hanging out. I want to tell the Belize students how proud I am of you. I have not stopped thinking about you guys. I have been praying constantly for you. It is great to see your posts. I am glad you guys are having a great time. I know the flight may have been a challenge but remember to be flexible. I know God is going to use you guys in a powerful way. Judy and Mary you need to post some pictures of your hair. You guys are all amazing and you are now all my favorite superheros. Amber, did your ketchup survive the trip? Kasey I will be praying for your prayer request. God bless you guys. I will be communicating with you guys through this post. Keep us in your prayers because we still have a ways to go before we reach our destination. Ken

I am Amber Atkinson’s aunt who lives in Oklahoma. I was raised at Lakeview Baptist and am so excited to be able to keep up with what is going on during this mission trip. Amber’s grandma Barbara and I stopped in Belize a few years ago when we were on a cruise and took a city tour, so I know what kind of conditions you are facing. Also, as a former missionary journeyman, I know the challenges of mission work. So, please know that I am praying for you. I trust that this will be a week filled with God’s blessings!

Amber, I think you should get your hair braided while you are there. That’s the one thing I wish I had done when we visited Belize. If you do, please take a picture and send it to me! I love you!
